You've promised to be faithful
to give me all i need
to protect me from the enemy
to quiet all my fear

your every word is sure
i rest in your safe harbor
and give my life to you

for every whispered prayer
in absolute surrender
i relinquish all to you

Is mercy still mercy
when i've done it again
when i've used up my chances
when i knew but still did

is grace still grace
when i deserve what i get
when i'm stubborn at best
when i've failed every test

is love still love
when i've slammed my heart shut
when i refuse to give in
when i'm right no matter what

O let mercy be mercy
when i need it the most
when i'm down on my knees
and my face's in the dirt

And let grace still be grace
when i deserve it the least
when i feel like a mess
and i've nowhere to go

O let love still be love
when my heart feels like stone
when my will's just my own
and i find i'm alone
